Yesterday’s article by Tom Brady in the Irish Independent suggests that Wednesday’s grenade attack on Dublin 8’s Park Terrace was caused by a family feud.
According to Brady: ‘Detectives are working on the theory that the blast is an escalation of a relatively minor row between a criminal and his mother-in-law.’

100 people were evacuated from their houses in Dublin 8’s Park Terrace yesterday, after a hand grenade exploded after being thrown at a house.
A grenade pin was subsequently found by the Army Bomb Disposal Team, who also carried out a controlled explosion on a suspect package. The package was found, according to early reports, in a vehicle in the underground carpark of the Carman’s Court apartment complex.
RTE crime correspondent Paul Reynolds reported suspicions that the incident relates to a fight in a Dublin 8 pub over the weekend between a former INLA member and local gang members.
Initially, the incident was reported as being caused by a pipebomb, as journalists felt it was connected to an incident which occurred on Monday in the Dublin suburb of Mulhuddart, when a pipebomb was thrown from a moving vehicle.
